For years, our family’s printing press brought us close to something special: the things people wanted to keep. Wedding photographs, children’s drawings, paintings passed down through generations, certificates earned the hard way. Customers brought their most cherished pieces to us to be framed, and we watched the same moment unfold again and again — someone carefully unwrapping something that meant the world to them.

But we also noticed something missing. Despite the emotional value of what people brought in, the framing options were often limited. The designs felt outdated, and the quality of materials didn’t always do justice to what was inside the frame. A treasured painting would go home in whatever frame was available, not the one that was right for it.

Why should framing be an afterthought, when it can be just as beautiful as the art itself?

We kept coming back to that question. Every frame we finished made it clearer that the way a piece is framed changes how it feels on the wall — and how much it’s noticed, and loved, once it gets there.

That question sparked our curiosity, and it didn’t let go. We started researching framing materials: exploring different wood profiles, studying finishes and grains, comparing mat boards, glazing and backing, and learning how each choice changes the way a piece is seen.

The more we learned, the clearer it became. The right combination of materials and design can transform an ordinary frame into something extraordinary. A slim black profile can sharpen a photograph. A warm walnut can bring a portrait to life. A wide mat can give a small piece real presence on a wall.

We realised that framing didn’t have to be just about protecting a photograph or painting. It could be about complementing the artwork, enhancing a space, and bringing a home together.
